Emphasizing new look is a hard thing to do, when people are already put their mind to certain brands, when people are oriented to particular hypes. Just being different may not be enough, being creative doesn’t always turn out attractive. The exploration on creating something means there are lots of thing to do and tons of thoughts to be considered.

We’ve learned that values are applicable in very much everything and to that, we do believe that we are capable bringing valuable in our product. Value isn’t always to be prestige at all time. Prestige will automatically come along with a valuable item without encouraging people to see it as something worth it.

We came up with Boro patch and Sashiko patch, an idea whereas a new development and creativity follow with values that carried along. Boro is a traditional patchwork from Japan which was favored by nineteenth and early twentieth-century. It was made when a kimono or sleeping futon cover started to run thin in a certain area, the family’s women patched it with a small piece of scrap fabric using sashiko stitching. Over time, these textiles would acquire more and more patches, almost to the point of the common observer being unable to recognize where the original fabric began. For some people, boro textile reminded the Japanese of their impoverished rural past because it was popular back when the World War II ends. Meanwhile, sashiko is a striking hand-sewing technique that oriented in ancient Japan. It is considered a “folk textile” because it was produced and used by the peasant classes. Was used in winter work for women from farming or fishing families, who used the technique to extend the life of worn fabrics, mend, and winterize clothing, and embellish everyday items.

Boro and sashiko could be said share the same historical part regarding the development.

Vol. 2 all about brings the heritage back to life. Boro and sashiko are the highlights for this upcoming project. Acculturate it with batik will create a new face of this aesthetic beauty, using indigo dye batik piece for the new fabric cuts and sewed it with sashiko thread. This collection will carry a heritage value along with the historical side that applies in every aspect of the components. We’re also going to offer patching services for denim, using boro and sashiko technique.
