Kachu has a deep philosophy regarding aesthetic, wisdom and society. Our foundation is motivated throughout the existence of local labor and community. As we realize that these play an important role in the ecosystem of society. Supporting meaning by contributing for the development and crafting something new for the society, by this we mean Indonesian market. We believe that locals have the potential to growth and to be able to compete on the international scene, as equal as the indigo dye. The belief that leads us back to the motivation for building a value of heritage, nature and also balance in each product that we made.  

 

In order to the realization all the motives, several steps have to be done. The first step is become participating with the society. WeWo (Weekend Workshop), as we notice has the same share vision with us, which supports creative and productive weekend activities for everybody through craft and soft skill workshops. Building an active society has become one of our motivations and WeWo is our pathway and also facilitator to accomplish. We will conduct a workshop about indigo dye, where people could interact building up relation during the course. The outcome would be an active, interactive and also educative society.

 

Participating in local events is also the form of supporting labors and community. WOF and Market Makers has the vision in uplifting the quality of local brands. It’s a medium for locals to be known and it triggers them to have the proportional standard of a brand. WOF, an annual event for denim enthusiast where we could find from the visitor to the author itself share the same interest towards denim and indigo, where we will conduct a showcase of indigo dying process. Another event that becomes our medium is Market Makers. Market Makers is a medium for the local craft to develop in cottage industry, indigo is one of the elements that this event highlight. During Market Makers we will be participating in indigo dye workshop, come as speaker and practitioner. 

 

Last but not least, collaboration is indeed needed to help the development of a community. Aside from creating something new, creative and different, we are aiming for something extraordinary. Collaboration with Kampung Batik and Sepatuduatiga is the form of participating and helping the community to grow and develop. Kampung Batik is a community that concern about the existence of batik these days, as we share the same vision, to maintaining the essence and the presence of batik in the society. Therefore, we will apply indigo in traditional batik patterns and conduct a private collection. Sepatuduatiga is a community that has the interest in gravity and painting sneakers, an idea is made when we discovered that indigo vat could be used for painting. Because the consistency of the vat is solid, it gives indigo to reached new invention. Using indigo vat as gravity paint is our form of collaborative brand towards the community.
