It all started because of my addiction into blue, what I mean blue is denim evolution. I considered myself as a person who would spend my time and financial on denim or we can call it “denim head”. My interest into denim started since I was a 15 years old boy, who accidently saw his father worn out jeans hanging in the laundry and exposed by the sunlight, It was a beauty right there. The addiction went wild when one of my worn out pair won a denim fading competition conducted internationally. From there, I decided to keep my track denim and the addiction keeps on going until now.

 

Indigo has become an important part of my life; I do notice the attachment of indigo to me is very big. Can’t miss a day without wearing my jeans on, it’s a strange addiction but I love it either way. The addiction does not stop there yet. The discovery in finding the essence of blue continues until I found what the world called Shibori. Traditional Japanese resist-dyeing techniques known for over 1000 years old, use indigo dye for the main color. Since denim is regularly uses indigo as the main color, Shibori really attracts me a lot and it made me wanted to discover it deeply. To experience Shibori, I went to several local festival and workshops, whereas I could find people who share the same interest towards denim, Shibori, and blue.

 

A new discovery opens up new seeing perspective to the world that I’m living in. Indigo give me a clutch of nature and peaceful. As I remember, Jakarta is a very wonderful metropolitan definitely modernize with all the technologies, very much crowded diverse with the people who live in it. But I do concern people have forgotten the sense of nature since it has been polluted and slowly gone. I do believe indigo could be a form of medium, a form of a message to deliver the sense of nature.
